QoS stands for Quality of Service , and is an industry-wide set of standards and mechanisms used to ensure high-quality performance for critical applications which, in the case of a communications system, includes voice and other unified communications. QoS is achieved when these communications functions have sufficient bandwidth, latency and jitter are controlled, and data loss is reduced.
